This spring, Central Iowa AHEC partnered with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) to offer Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students job shadow experiences at various rural and underserved healthcare locations. These students shadowed for two hour increments, for a total of eight hours, in various areas, including: mortuary science, pharmacy, optometry, emergency services, surgical services, social services, lab, respiratory therapy, radiology and ultrasound. The students were able to talk to health professionals regarding their experiences, as well as observe job characteristics and responsibilities.
Central Iowa AHEC works within an eight county catchment area to provide job shadow opportunities to students of all healthcare disciplines. For more information about Central Iowa AHEC and its programs, visit their website.
