The globalization of our world can be seen in healthcare across Iowa. For many Iowans in healthcare, the ability to have conversations about diversity can be daunting. Is it acceptable to ask about religion? Race? Family structure?
Central Iowa AHEC and Broadlawns Medical Center are presenting "Cultural Diversity in Healthcare", a continuing education course for nurses. This workshop will address techniques for having conversations about diversity and provide resources for understanding race and ethnicity. Speaking will be Wendy Riggenberg, Ph.D., director of the Master's of Public Health program at Des Moines University. View the flier for more information.
Registration is free for Broadlawns employees and $15 for non-employees. To register for the course, contact Central Iowa AHEC Clinical Outreach Coordinator Dena Sample by May 29th.
